Welcome to GN Solids Australia

In five minutes, I will take you through the various pumps used in Solids Control Industry

In the sewage treatment(Solids Control) industry, pumps are the most important treatment equipment.

Generally speaking, there are three types of pumps used in sewage treatment processes:

1. Lift pumps for transferring sewage, 2. Dosing pumps for adding chemicals, 3. , sludge pump for conveying sludge.

1. Lift pump

Usage

In sewage treatment, the main function of the lift pump is to transport sewage from one pool to another, or from one sewage treatment link to another treatment link.

where to use

Generally speaking, the sewage lift pump is placed at the water inlet of the sewage treatment plant. Since the sewage transported by the sewage pipe network has a low water level, a sewage lift pump is needed to pump the sewage with a lower water level to the subsequent treatment process equipment.

Another function is to pump the sewage treated in the previous pool to the next pool for the next different sewage treatment process during the treatment process.

Which types are better

Lift pumps generally use centrifugal pumps. Centrifugal pumps are divided into dry and wet types. Dry centrifugal pumps are commonly used.

Sand pumps are widely used in the solid control industry

2. Dosing pump

Usage

The main purpose is to add sewage treatment chemicals to the sewage pool, so that the sewage treatment chemicals can neutralize certain pollutants in the sewage, remove pollutants, and purify the water body. The dosing pump inhales the medicinal solution from the solution tank, then mixes it with the water of the working medium and transports it to the polluted water body to achieve the purpose of dosing.

where to use

It is generally used in processes that require the addition of chemicals, and is mostly used in deep treatment sections, such as coagulation sedimentation tanks, Fenton reaction tanks, etc.

Which types are better? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?

There are many types of dosing pumps, such as screw pumps, mechanical diaphragm metering pumps, hydraulic diaphragm metering pumps, plunger metering pumps, etc. The choice of which pump depends on various factors such as the transported medium, flow rate, pressure, temperature, viscosity, specific gravity, content, etc.

Although screw pumps can also be used as dosing pumps, they are not accurate enough compared to metering pumps. Therefore, factories with better conditions all use metering pumps.

3. Sludge pump
effect

The main function of the sludge pump is to extract the sludge produced after sewage treatment from the bottom of the pool for sludge solidification treatment.

where to use

Sludge pumps are mainly used in tanks that produce sludge, such as sedimentation tanks, sludge tanks, biochemical tanks, filter tanks, etc. They are mainly used to return sludge and transport sludge to the sludge dehydration workshop.

According to the principle, the pumps that can be used for sludge include axial flow pumps, centrifugal pumps, screw pumps, slurry pumps and plunger pumps, etc. Among them, axial flow pumps or centrifugal pumps are generally used for return sludge, with centrifugal pumps being the main ones. , the centrifugal pump occupies a small area, is light in weight, consumes less material, has lower installation costs, and is more efficient, but it is also prone to "air binding";

The pumps that pump sludge into the sludge dehydration workshop mostly use screw pumps or slurry pumps. The advantages of screw pumps include wide pressure and flow range, good suction performance, self-priming ability, uniform and continuous flow, and small vibration. Its disadvantages are that it requires high processing and assembly, and it will generate noise due to the violent movement of the pump body.
