A highly efficient slurry separation plant serves as a fundamental component for the successful utilization of slurry-supported Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs). The GN Slurry separation plant is widely recognized and employed in projects involving AVN Machines, Mix shields, and Shaft Sinking Machines. GN Solids Control utilizes a combination of shale shakers, desanders, desilters, and decanter centrifuges to execute the precise and effective separation and removal of excavated solids from the bentonite suspension, which comprises water and thixotropic clay. The resultant purified fluid is subsequently reintroduced into the slurry circulation system.
The achievement of optimal TBM performance relies significantly on the implementation of a meticulously designed TBM slurry separation plant. The GN Slurry separation plant has garnered substantial popularity within the realm of AVN Machines, Mix shields, and Shaft Sinking Machines projects. By integrating an ensemble of shale shakers, desanders, desilters, and decanter centrifuges, GN Solids Control ensures the systematic segregation and extraction of excavated solids from the bentonite suspension, a heterogeneous blend of water and thixotropic clay. The refined fluid is then seamlessly reintegrated into the slurry circulation mechanism.

GN offers a diverse range of decanter centrifuges catering to TBM slurry dewatering treatment. The 22-inch GNLW553C-VFD and the 30-inch GNLW764A big bowl decanter centrifuges have proven to be exceedingly sought-after for TBM mud treatment. GN facilitates the acquisition of dewatering centrifuges alongside a chemical dosing unit, culminating in an integrated package for customers. Furthermore, these dewatering centrifuge packages can be conveniently containerized, thus optimizing their portability.
A coarse shale shaker is utilized to effectively eliminate large particles present in the TBM slurry
The slurry is conveyed by a centrifugal pump and directed to the coarse hydrocyclones for further processing.
Below the coarse hydrocyclones, a dewatering shaker is employed to facilitate the drying of the excavated solids.
Another centrifugal pump transfers the slurry to the fine hydrocyclones, where solids above 20 microns are separated.
The discharged solids from the fine hydrocyclones undergo dewatering through the implementation of a fine shaker.
A decanter centrifuge is employed to effectively separate solids within the range of 2-5 microns without the need for chemical additives.
For finer separation, a chemically enhanced decanter centrifuge is employed to isolate solids above 1 micron by utilizing appropriate chemical treatments.
